Simple Mind-Body Practices for Health and Calm
If you’re looking for simple, evidence-based ways to feel calmer, more balanced, and more at ease in daily life, this course offers a practical place to start.
With the first series of seven sessions beginning on 16th September 2026, this small group offers practical, gentle ways to support health and wellbeing through relaxation, breathing, mindfulness, and simple meditative practices.
Each week introduces a different mind–body topic, with clear explanations, guided exercises, and time for shared discussion. The emphasis is on learning skills that can be used in everyday life to reduce stress, improve calmness, and increase body awareness. No previous experience is needed, and all practices are adaptable and suitable for U3A members.
For those who value a scientific perspective, the approaches used in this course are supported by established research demonstrating their clinical safety and effectiveness. While the sessions are practical rather than academic, participants may find it reassuring to know the material is evidence-based, and references or suggestions for further reading can be provided.
Facilitator: Barry Winbolt psychologist with 30 years’ experience helping groups explore mind–body techniques for everyday wellbeing.
